Connecting JD Edwards EnterpriseOne

This guide walks you through connecting your JD Edwards EnterpriseOne account through Makini Link.
Set aside about 10 minutes. You'll need the address of your AIS Server and a JD Edwards user for Makini. Your JD Edwards administrator can give you both.

Before you start#

Makini connects through your AIS Server. The Application Interface Services (AIS) Server is the part of JD Edwards EnterpriseOne that serves its REST API. If you don't have one yet, your JD Edwards administrator will need to set it up first.
Username and password sign-in must be allowed on the AIS Server. Makini signs in with a username and password. Oracle requires that sign-in type to be enabled in the AIS Server's security settings in Server Manager. Your administrator can confirm it.
Use a user made just for this connection. Makini signs in as this user, so it sees exactly what this user is allowed to see: JD Edwards applies the user's row and column security from Security Workbench. Anything Makini changes is recorded under this user too. A personal login mixes your own activity with the connection's, and the connection stops working when that person leaves.
Makini uses the user's default environment and role. The form doesn't ask for them, so make sure the user's defaults point at the environment you want to connect, usually production.
Most AIS Servers sit on your own network. If yours can't be reached from the internet, you'll turn on Connect to on-prem system via VPN/Firewall on the same form in Step 2. Have your network details ready, or your network team nearby.

Step 1: Get the user and the AIS Server address#

Ask your JD Edwards administrator to:
1.
Create a JD Edwards user for Makini, with a strong password, and give it access to the data you want to bring across.
2.
Give you the address of the AIS Server. This is the AIS Server's own address and port, which is not the same as the address you use for the JD Edwards web client. For example: https://ais.example.com:7077.
Keep the username and password somewhere safe for a moment. A password manager is best.

Step 2: Enter your credentials#

1.
Fill in the form in Makini Link:
AIS Server URL: the AIS Server's address from Step 1, for example https://ais.example.com:7077. Enter just the server address and port. Don't add /jderest or anything after it.
Username: the JD Edwards user from Step 1
Password: that user's password
2.
If your AIS Server isn't reachable from the internet, turn on Connect to on-prem system via VPN/Firewall and fill in your network details.
3.
Click Connect.
Once connected, your administrator will see Makini's sessions in the AIS session list in Server Manager under the device name makini-sync.

Keeping the connection working#

Treat the password like any other password. Don't email it, don't put it in a chat message, don't save it in a shared document.
Things that will break the connection
Changing the user's password, or the password expiring: enter the new password on the connection
Disabling or deleting the user: create a new one and connect again
Changing the user's default environment or role, or its security, which changes what Makini can see
Moving the AIS Server to a different address or port: update AIS Server URL on the connection

If something goes wrong#

The connection failed right after I clicked Connect.
It can't reach the AIS Server.
It connects, but some data is missing.
Still stuck?
Send us a note describing which step you're on and what you're seeing. Don't include the password in that message.
