This guide walks you through connecting your Siemens Asset Essentials account through Makini Link.
Set aside about 5 minutes. You'll need the web address you use to open Asset Essentials, and the login name and password of the Asset Essentials user the connection should use.
Use a shared company account if you can. Makini signs in to Asset Essentials with the login name and password you enter here. If you use your own personal login, the connection breaks whenever you change your password, and it stops working entirely if you leave the company. A dedicated account set up for integrations avoids all of that.Check that a license is available. Asset Essentials requires every user, other than Request Only users, to be licensed. If you're creating a new account for the connection, confirm with your Asset Essentials administrator that it can be given a license.
Both come from the web address you use to open Asset Essentials. That address has two parts: the Asset Essentials host, then your company's own name. For example:https://assetessentials.dudesolutions.com/YourCompany
The Instance URL is everything up to (but not including) your company's name: https://assetessentials.dudesolutions.com
The Client ID is your company's name in the address: YourCompany
Despite its name, the Client ID is not a secret or a key. It's just the part of the address that identifies your company. If you're not sure which part is which, ask your Asset Essentials administrator.
