This guide walks you through connecting your Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations environment through Makini Link.
Set aside about 20 minutes. Makini connects to Finance & Operations as an app registered in your Microsoft Entra ID, not as a person. You'll need four things: your environment's web address, your Microsoft Entra tenant ID, and the app's client ID and client secret.
You'll need help from your Microsoft administrators. Registering an app in Microsoft Entra takes admin rights there, and allowing it into Finance & Operations takes a system administrator in Finance & Operations. If that isn't you, send them this guide.Least privilege by design. Read access is all the app needs, so that's all it should be given. One connection covers the whole environment. Every legal entity (company) the app is allowed to see comes through the same connection.Use an app made just for this connection. A dedicated app keeps working when people change jobs, and your administrators can see exactly what it's used for.
Register an app for Makini in your Microsoft Entra ID.
2.
Create a client secret for it.
From that app, you'll need:
The tenant ID of your Microsoft Entra ID, a long identifier like 14dd36c8-0000-0000-0000-000000000000
The app's application (client) ID
The client secret value
Treat the client secret like a password. Anyone who has it can sign in as the app. Don't email it, don't put it in a chat message, don't save it in a shared document. A password manager is best.
Ask your Finance & Operations system administrator to add the app's client ID on the Microsoft Entra ID applications form in your environment, and to give it the security roles it needs to read your data. The security roles decide what the connection can see. Anything those roles can't read simply won't come through, and the connection still works. If data you expected is missing later, granting the right roles fills it in. Nothing needs to be reconnected.
