This guide walks you through connecting your Dynamics 365 Business Central account through Makini Link.
Set aside about 20 minutes. Makini connects to Business Central as an app registered in your Microsoft Entra ID, not as a person. You'll need five things: your Microsoft Entra tenant ID, the app's client ID and client secret, the name of your Business Central environment, and the ID of the company you want to connect.
You'll need help from your Microsoft administrators. Registering an app in Microsoft Entra and giving it access to Business Central takes admin rights in both. If that isn't you, send them this guide. One connection covers one company. Business Central can hold several companies in one environment. Each connection reads one of them. To connect a second company, add a second connection with that company's ID.Use an app made just for this connection. A dedicated app keeps working when people change jobs, and your administrators can see exactly what it's used for.
Register an app for Makini in your Microsoft Entra ID.
2.
Create a client secret for it.
3.
Give the app permission to use the Business Central API.
From that app, you'll need:
The tenant ID of your Microsoft Entra ID, a long identifier like 14dd36c8-0000-0000-0000-000000000000
The app's application (client) ID
The client secret value
Treat the client secret like a password. Anyone who has it can sign in as the app. Don't email it, don't put it in a chat message, don't save it in a shared document. A password manager is best.
Your Business Central administrator also needs to allow the app into your Business Central environment and give it permissions there. What the connection can see and do in Business Central follows those permissions.
From your Business Central administrator or partner, get:
The environment name, for example Production. Sandbox environments have their own names.
The company ID of the company you want to connect. This is a long identifier like 9ac79eaf-0000-0000-0000-000000000000, not the company's display name.
