This guide walks you through connecting your PeopleSoft Financials and Supply Chain Management (FSCM) account through Makini Link.
Set aside about 20 minutes. You'll need your PeopleSoft Integration Gateway address, a PeopleSoft operator ID for Makini, and the name of your default local node. Your PeopleSoft administrator can give you all three.
Makini reads PeopleSoft through Query Access Services. This is a web service Oracle delivers with PeopleSoft, and it's already active on a standard installation. Nothing needs to be installed. But no user can call it until they're given permission, which is what Step 1 is for. You'll need your PeopleSoft security administrator. Granting the permission in Step 1 takes admin rights. If that isn't you, send them this guide.Use an operator ID made just for this connection. Query Access Services lets its user run queries across a very wide range of PeopleSoft tables, so this account can see a lot. Use a dedicated service account with only the roles it needs, never a person's everyday login. A dedicated account also keeps working when people change jobs.Your gateway must use HTTPS. PeopleSoft's delivered services refuse plain HTTP, so the address you enter must start with https://.Most PeopleSoft systems sit on your own network. If yours can't be reached from the internet, you'll turn on Connect to on-prem system via VPN/Firewall on the same form in Step 3. Have your network details ready, or your network team nearby.
Step 1: Give the operator ID permission to use Query Access Services#
Ask your PeopleSoft security administrator to:
1.
Create an operator ID for Makini, with a strong password.
2.
Assign it the delivered QAS Admin role. That role carries the PTPT2200 ("QAS access") permission list, which is what allows calls to Query Access Services. On a fresh installation no user has it, so it has to be added.
3.
Purge the application server cache afterwards. PeopleSoft caches security, and a new role often doesn't take effect until the cache is cleared, even after a restart. In PeopleSoft this is under PeopleTools > Utilities > Administration > Purge Cache, or the Purge Cache option in psadmin.
Keep the operator ID and password somewhere safe for a moment. A password manager is best.
The Integration Gateway address. This is the root address of your gateway, for example https://psfscm.example.com:9000.
The name of the default local node. PeopleSoft generates this name when it's installed, so every installation's is different. On a standard installation it looks like FSCM_ followed by ten capital letters. Other local nodes, such as ERP or PSFT_RTBL, won't work here. It must be the default one.
PeopleSoft Gateway URL: the gateway address from Step 2, for example https://psfscm.example.com:9000
Operator ID: the operator ID from Step 1
Password: that operator ID's password
Default Local Node: the default local node name from Step 2, exactly as PeopleSoft shows it
2.
Under Advanced settings, Query Owner Type is optional and set to PUBLIC, which is what a standard installation uses. Leave it unless your administrator tells you your site uses something else.
3.
If your PeopleSoft system isn't reachable from the internet, turn on Connect to on-prem system via VPN/Firewall and fill in your network details.
